Coil

Toil is one in a series of four small paintings I did on the theme of states of being, the others are Toil, Sloth and Rebirth.
Painted in gouache on paper, this one shows a half baby half scorpion curled up in a nest.
The scorpion baby is similar to my ceramic Scorpio model hich are based on the Zodiac signs.

I still have the original framed painting.

I’m also in the progress of recreating the four paintings on canvas.
