Gavin Bonnar

Gavin Bonnar graduated from Edinburgh College Of Art in 1991 with a BA (Hons) in Illustration and Graphic Design.

Whilst working as a Graphic Designer at The University of Edinburgh in 1996, he did a one day course in HTML. Immediately seeing the potential to showcase art to a world wide audience he designed and launched this very website originally hosted by Globalnet and later under it’s own domain name, Chameleon-Arts.com.

The internet was just taking off then and believe it or not sites, like Google, Amazon, Youtube etc.. weren’t even thought of back then.

As well as showcasing Gavin’s own work, mainly illustration and Graphic Design, by 2001 Chameleon Arts had attracted over 50 other artists covering a wide range of artistic subjects including; Painting, Sculpture, Glass, Furniture Design, Textiles, Jewellery Design and even a Blacksmith.

The site featured some well known contemporary Artists and in 2001 Chameleon Arts held it’s first real life exhibition at The Outrageous Art Gallery in Edinburgh, then later there were several successful month long exhibitions including solo shows and mixed exhibitions at The Raddison Blu Hotel on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile from 2006 until 2008.

Gavin’s work then focused mainly on website design, whilst also taking on Graphic Design commissions and painting and clay modelling in his spare time.
