The Butterfly Collector

This image came about by accident after I found defrosted bloodworm cubes which I fed to my pet newt in the kitchen drawer.
There just happened to be a butterfly stencil in the drawer and it created a blood stained butterfly image just as it is.

The idea that something as delicate and beautiful could look like a brutal murder scene inspired this mixed media piece.
The butterfly wings which are loose in the box frame came from Edinburgh’s Butterfly Farm and were on the ground, no butterflies were harmed in the making of this piece. I still have the original.
